Wendy Tippets

July 8, 1952 — September 2, 2020

Wendy Lyn Tippets, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother unexpectedly passed away on September 2, 2020 at the age of 68. Wendy was born July 8, 1952 in Provo, Utah, she was the 2nd child of Leon & Bonnie Stubbs.

She attended Provo High School and attended Utah State for a semester, where she then transferred to BYU. It was while attending BYU that Wendy met the love of her life, Mark Tippets, and on August 22, 1974, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple, and had just celebrated their 46th Anniversary.

Wendy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many different callings, some of which were: nursery, librarian, ward missionary and several callings in the primary. Most of all she loved Visiting Teaching/Ministering and the relationships she made.

Wendy worked for BYU for over 30 years in various departments, the majority of which were spent in the bookstore. She loved working with the students, and meeting all of the athletes and getting their signatures. She was a huge Cougars fan and had season tickets for football and basketball - many family vacations were spent traveling to their bowl games.  It’s not a coincidence that she passed away after watching the Jazz lose in game 7 of the playoffs.

One of her greatest accomplishments was crocheting an afghan that won the blue ribbon at the state fair. Wendy loved flowers and gardening. If she wasn’t tending Grandchildren, she was out in her yard tending to her garden. Wendys greatest joy was watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, recitals, and other activities. She loved being with and supporting her family. Her passions in life changed to whatever was important to her family and children. Wendy’s greatest legacy is her family and her desire to help others at any cost.

Wendy is survived by her husband Mark Tippets, her four children, Chris Tippets, wife Andrea Tippets, Nick Tippets, Amber Stice and husband Joseph Han Stice, BreAnne Smith and husband Judge Smith. Grandchildren, Tanner Dutson (21), Dallin Dutson (18), Colter Tippets (12), Brynley Tippets (8), Kylie Stice (10), Brandon Stice (7), Corbin Stice (5), Paizley Tippets (6), Jacoby Smith (7) and Q Smith (5). Siblings, Danny Stubbs and wife Dana Stubbs, Frank Stubbs, Jeff Stubbs and wife Lori Stubbs, Lori Jenkins and husband Alan Jenkins. She was reunited with her parents Leon Stubbs and Bonnie Stubbs and two sisters Vickie Warren and Julie Slade.

Services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Sunset Heights 2nd ward chapel located at 1200 S. 4th W. Orem, UT. A viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:30 A.M., followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 A.M. Due to restrictions related to COVID-19 there are limitations on how many can attend the funeral services, so it will be by invite only. Neighbors and friends are encouraged to pay respects by attending the viewing. The funeral will be livestreamed – details will be provided later.
