Thomas Glem

September 26, 1948 — April 28, 2023

Orem, Utah

Thomas Dawson Glem, 74, of Orem, Utah, passed away Friday, April 28th, 2023, after a courageous and graceful battle with Pneumonia and - Mycobacterium Avium Complex. He was born September 26th, 1948, in New Kensington, PA to Peter Glem and Marjorie Dawson. He married his sweetheart, Peggy Pickett on January 25th, 1974, in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple. They had 5 children: Lisa (Bryan) Anderson of Morgan, Utah, Erin (Richie) Gillespie of Prosper, TX, Katie (David) Studdert of Midway, UT, Jeff (Hailey) Glem of Little Elm, TX, and Eric (Holly) Glem of Spanish Fork, UT.   Peggy passed away December 18th, 2010. Tom married Karin Warner Glem on Dec 27th, 2012, and she loved, supported, and cared for him every day.

Tom grew up in Vancouver, Washington and graduated from Columbia River High School.  He went on to attend Clark College where he was a member of the golf team.  He then joined the army and served his country in the Vietnam War.  After the war he went to school at Central Washington University where he met Peggy.  Shortly after meeting Peggy, he wanted to know more about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  His testimony grew fast, and he knew he wanted to join.  He was baptized a member of the church and then married Peggy one year later.  They settled down in Vancouver where they raised their 5 wonderful children and made unforgettable memories of camping, fishing, riding ATVs, creating lasting friendships, and spending time in their backyard wonderland together.

Tom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Serving in callings, serving his neighbors, and serving his brothers and sisters of the ward and stake brought him so much joy.  Tom's true passion and hobbies were working with his hands fixing cars, trucks and recreational vehicles.  That guy could fix just about anything!  There wasn't a day that went by that he didn't have a project he was working on.  And when he finished that project and sold it...another one would show up the next day.  Man, that guy loved a good deal!

Tom was an amazing husband and father and cherished his relationships with his children, family, and lifelong friends.  He always had a funny joke to tell and would tell them often!

Tom is survived by his wife Karin, his 5 children, 4 stepchildren, 19 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 3 siblings and countless other in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and relatives he loved. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy, father Peter, mother Marjorie, father-in-law Victor and mother-in-law Joleene, and stepson Ryan Palmer.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 500 South 600 West, Orem, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 3-3:45 p.m. prior to the services at the church.
