Sybil Kimbrough

Sybil Maye Kimbrough, age 85, of Orem, Utah, passed away Monday, Oct.4, 2021, at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah due to the pandemic Covid-19. Sybil was born to John Rodney Kimbrough and Myrtle Mae Howell on August 17,1936, in Gainesville, Florida. She grew up in Tallahassee and Bushnell, Florida.

Sybil married Sidney Gene "Pat" Wheaton on 1 Nov 1953 in Folkston, Georgia. They made their home in Lakeview, North Carolina, close to Ft. Bragg, NC where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army. He had recently returned from the Korean War when they married. A year later they welcomed a baby girl Patricia Maye Wheaton born on 2 Nov 1954 at the Womack Army Medical Center. Sidney Wheaton passed away 27 Oct.1970 in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina after serving 20 years in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam.

The couple however was divorced on 1 May 1958.

Sybil married Chester Brill Caruthers on 1 June 1958 in Ocala, Marion, Florida. They welcomed a son, Daniel (Danny) Brill Caruthers on 11 Nov 1959, born in Ocala at Munroe Memorial Hospital. Chester passed away on 4 Jan 2003 in Ocala, Florida.

Sybil was married to Elvin AIlen Reeves, who passed away 9 March 2009 in El Paso, Texas.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served four missions in the Church as a proselyting missionary in Melbourne, Australia; Nauvoo, lllinois; Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; and Washington, DC, USA.

She was a very hard-working, energetic person, who was always ready for an adventure. She could dance the jitterbug, and light up a room with her smile and laughter. She loved dogs and had many pets over the years.

Sybil is survived by daughter Pat Wheaton Harrison (Paul), Draper, Utah; 3 grand-children, Stephanie Caruthers Walker (Carlos), Charlotte , NC; Sierra Harrison Hansen (Tyler), Lehi, Utah; and Ryan Harrison, Draper, Utah.

She is also survived by 5 great grand-children, Allison, Madelyn, Annabelle, and Virginia Hansen, Lehi, Utah, and Casey Hovis, Charlotte, NC; and a daughter-in-law Beverly Wilson Robinson (Neil), Charlotte, NC. She has 3 sisters, Theresa Kimbrough, Johnanna Kimbrough Wilkins (Ron), and Kris Kimbrough Riviello (Paul), all from Virginia.

Her son, Danny Caruthers, is deceased, as are her parents, and 3 husbands.

Private Family Funeral Services will be held Friday, Oct 8,2021 at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary in Orem, Utah located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah from 1:30 - 2:15, and graveside services at the Orem City Cemetery from 2:30 - 3:30.
