Robert Barlow

March 29, 1943 — April 11, 2020

Robert Dean Barlow passed away peacefully on April 11, 2020. His loving wife, Vicky,
and his daughter, Freya, were with him when he passed. Born to Robert Cleo and Christia
Josephine [Poe] Barlow on March 29, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the fourth of
six children. When he was 8 years old, his family moved to Denver, Colorado where he
graduated from George Washington High School in 1961. He was a talented athlete who
competed in wrestling and gymnastics, and was honored with all-state recognition in both
sports. He was also an expert skier.

He attended Brigham Young University and taught skiing there until he was called to
serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to Germany in 1963.
Bob served an honorable mission first in Hamburg and when the mission was split he was
sent to Bavaria. The good people there were little interested in the Gospel message but
Bob never stopped working to share his testimony.

After completing his mission, Bob returned to BYU and graduated in political science.
Bob was an entrepreneur involved with several retail endeavors. He loved history,
especially church history. Bob travelled extensively, always enjoying the beauty and
history of each destination.

Bob married MaryAnn Lee in 1980. They adopted Freya Sarah Louise on November 7,
1983. They moved to Denver for several years and then relocated to Cape Cod. They
were later divorced.

Bob married Victoria Jeanne Powell on September 29, 2014. She was the love of his life.
Bob and Vicky made many trips to Europe, the U.S. and Mexico until his health began to
fail. Vicky was his helpmate and loving caregiver during his long illness, never leaving
any need or request unfulfilled.

Bob held many positions in the Church. He especially enjoyed serving in the Denver
Temple and serving as Branch President of the Brewster Branch on Cape Cod. He
wanted to be known as one who had a firm testimony of God Our Father, Jesus Christ our
elder Brother, and the restoration of His church in this day and age.

Bob was an adventurer who enjoyed hunting and fishing. There wasn't a mountain that
Bob didn't want to reach the top -- if he couldn't do it on foot, a Silverado 4x4 was good
enough.

Bob was a gifted oil painter who sold and donated hundreds of paintings. He especially
enjoyed the scenes of nature. In Colorado he painted mountains and cabins; in
Washington he painted rocky shores; in Cape Cod he painted the lighthouses of the Cape;
and in Utah he painted southwestern monuments of the National Parks.

He is survived by his wife, Vicky, his daughter Freya Sarah and her husband Justin
Sanders; step-children, Tim Mounga, Bill Mounga, 'Alisi Stone, Vika Mounga, and their
families. His siblings, Gene and Linda Barlow, Lynne and Leroy Likes, Gayle Godfrey,
Ron and Nora Barlow, and Beverly and Dave Hughes. He especially loved his many
nieces and nephews.

Bob will be interred in the Bountiful Utah Cemetery, April 17, 2020. Due to current
restrictions (Covid 19) there will be a short graveside service involving a few members of
his immediate family. Additional family and friends will participate in the service
virtually.
