Reid Williamson

February 22, 1931 — January 8, 2022

Orem, Utah

Reid Jay Williamson, loving husband, father, grandfather, and devoted friend passed away at the age of 90, on January 8th, 2022.  Reid was born at home on February 22, 1931 in Salt Lake City, UT to Glenn Young Williamson and Mary Evelyn (Bird) Williamson.  He married Norma Larsen on September 21, 1956, in the Salt Lake City Temple. She proceeded him in death on March 5, 2013.

Reid was fascinated with trains, bikes, and especially cars.  When he was young, he loved riding the train from his home in California to visit family in Utah.  As a youth, he spent many hours riding his bike each day, and at the age of sixteen, he made the California to Utah trip by bike, with his buddy Boyd Nielsen.  He repeated the trip again at age 51, with his 14-year-old son, Lee.  His next true love was his cars, especially Pontiacs.  Everything about cars thrilled him, which ultimately lead to him working for 38 years as the Editor for Price Books & Forms, which served car dealerships all over the country.  Reid also was a Technical Advisor for the Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) for 40 years.

After graduating from Alhambra High School, Reid served two years in the Central States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Upon his return, he attended (and graduated from) Brigham Young University.  Reid served faithfully in church assignments and at the temple.  Working in scouting, and teaching English through the Daily Dose program brought him great satisfaction.

Along with his love of trains, bikes, cars, and the gospel of Jesus Christ, Reid loved his family and friends.  He was an avid genealogist; he not only did the research, but also went to great lengths to be personally acquainted with his relatives – those living and deceased.  He adored his children and grandchildren, as well as many close friends throughout his life.

Reid is survived by his brother, John Dale Williamson (Joanne); two sons, Glenn Dennis Williamson (Ruth) and Lee Wayne Williamson (Elizabeth); three daughters, Jil Ronkainen (Jim), Teena Williams (Mark) and Evelyn Veylupek (Dallin), fifteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, including his second mother, Nora (Ford) Williamson; two brothers, Glenn Young Williamson, Jr. and Gary Clark Williamson (Joan), and his wife, Norma.

There will be a viewing from 11:00-12:30 on Saturday, January 22nd at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary 495 S. State St. in Orem.  The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 1:00 pm.  Interment will be at Provo City Cemetery at 610 S. State St. in Provo.
