Marjorie Mueller

August 28, 1940 — March 5, 2023

Orem, UT

Marjorie Jo Farnsworth Mueller, 82, of Orem, Utah, passed away on March 5, 2023. She was surrounded with the love of her family both here and by those who have preceded her in death. Marjorie was born on August 28, 1940, to Doug and Helen Farnsworth in Bisbee, Arizona. She graduated from Pima High School and earned her bachelor's in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona College. She was awarded her master's degree in library science from Denver University. After graduation, she was selected by the United States Army Special Services to work as a librarian in France. There she met her husband, Heinz Peter Mueller, and they were married for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on November 3, 1965.

Marjorie and Heinz Peter have been a couple for almost 60 years, which is an achievement in and of itself. In addition to their partnership, they raised six children, Helena, Martin Douglas, Petrina, Karl Heinz, Sabina and Wilhelm Alexander. The first year of their marriage was spent in France. They moved to Utah in 1967, living in Provo, Utah, until the family moved to Orem, Utah, in the fall of 1971. The home they still live in today.

In 1985, Marjorie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She approached this challenge with great faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Although the cancer treatments would cause additional physical challenges throughout her life, she remained steadfast and strong.

Marjorie worked as a library media specialist at Hillcrest Elementary in Orem, Utah, and enriched the lives of many students, faculty, and administration for 26 years. When Marjorie and Heinz Peter retired in 2006, they decided to travel. Cruising was a way for them to explore this beautiful world at a relaxing pace. Visiting places from Russia and Israel, to New Zealand and Australia, to Japan and China, to Iceland and Greenland, to the Aleutians, and numerous visits to the Hawaiian Islands.

Marjorie maintained a strong faith in her Heavenly Father, and exemplified faith, integrity, and grace. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints she served faithfully in many capacities and loved sharing her musical talent including playing the piano, conducting music in church, and singing in the ward choir. She magnified her calling as a Relief Society President but her most favorite calling was that of Relief Society Cultural Arts Teacher. She was also a faithful visiting teacher/ministering sister.

Marjorie was skilled in sports, baking, sewing, quilting, and many crafts. She loved making clothes for her children and grandchildren. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and found joy in creating quilts for those she loved. Marjorie was also very knowledgeable about every topic because of her joy of learning. She loved to read and could average up to 4 books a day. This was very beneficial before the internet because if you wanted to know something, you only had to phone a friend named Marjorie Mueller.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Douglas L. and Helen Farnsworth, and her sister Shirley Ann Farnsworth. She is survived by her loving husband, Heinz Peter, sister, Debi Farnsworth Crapse (Dennis) and her brothers Melvin D. Farnsworth, and Kenneth L. Farnsworth (Robin). As well as her children Helena Mueller, Martin Douglas Mueller (Carol), Petrina Mueller Steele (Chris), Karl Heinz Mueller (Angela), Sabina Mueller Suggs (Scott), and Wilhelm Alexander Mueller, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 15, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 16, at 11:00 AM with a viewing prior to that from 9:30 – 10:30 am at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah.
