Lillian Anhder

August 11, 1926 — October 24, 2022

Orem, Utah

Lillian Barlow Anhder of Orem, Utah passed away at the spry age of 96 on October 24th, 2022. She was born in Farmington, Utah to Grace & Harold Barlow on August 11th, 1926. She was the second to the youngest of six children. Two siblings Troy and Marilyn passed at their births. Both her and her mother struggled during her birth, and she started having seizures soon after. Her family rallied around her, blessed her, and gave her, her name. Her Grandfather proudly declared he knew she would live.

She had two sisters and one brother. Whom she adored and was close to throughout their lives. She attended schools in Farmington including Davis High. She was active in school service. She loved basketball and was thrilled when their team the Davis Darts won the State Championship.

She married Garth Ivon Anhder in the Salt Lake City Temple. Through this union they were blessed with three children Trudy Grace, Roger Garth, and Debra Gaye. She cherished being a stay-at-home Mom and was devoted to her children

She began to lose her hearing in her forties. Although hearing aids helped her some throughout the years, she was never able to fully recover her hearing. This was a huge challenge for her because she loved music and visiting with others. She quickly learned to read lips and continued to find creative ways to communicate with those around her. This never stopped her from finding ways to connect and serve others.

She was an excellent cook and we always looked forward to celebrations at her home. She often hosted movie nights, game nights, and recaps of her many trips. We never left her home hungry. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet. She played the piano well with only having had lessons for under a year. She loved to travel with Garth and many dear friends. They usually could be found cruising the seas or LDS temple trips.

She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held many church callings including Primary pianist, primary teacher, Relief Society President, and Relief Society Secretary. She loved to serve in many ways which included crocheting baby blankets, clothing, and seasonal decorations. If she knew you, you probably were blessed by something she made for you. She also loved making meals and visiting those who needed a listening ear. She didn’t learn to drive until she was in her forties so she would often be found riding her bike to those she wanted to spread cheer too. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Many thanks to Lillian’s caregivers Kori, Susanna, Alex, Mikelle, Lyndi & Dr. Bryce Swenson at Utah Home Health and Hospice and her social worker Hollie Anderegg. But, especially to her daughter Gaye Cummings.

She was preceded in death by her husband Garth I. Anhder of 54 years, her son Roger Garth, her parents, her three sisters Helen, Dorothy Lavene, & Marilyn, her brothers Troy & Phillip, and her son-in-law Paul Cummings.

She is survived by her two daughters Trudy Grace Stafford (Jim), and Debra Gaye Cummings (Paul – Deceased) She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren. Paul (Danielle), Julie (Kurt), Linda (Brett), Marilyn (Ramiro), Eric, Heidi (Tim), Scott (Angela), Holly (Tyson), and Kelly (Danny). 28 great-grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, her sister-in-law Pauline Anhder and numerous nieces and nephews.
