Leon Hurst

Leon Hurst age 86 of Provo, Utah passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was born on September 16, 1934 in Provo, Utah to Esther Skinner and Martin Henry Hurst. He married Suzanne Nelson in 1958 and they were sealed in the Logan temple.

Leon graduated from Provo High and served in the Army and was part of the 101st Screaming Eagle paratroopers. He attended Snow College and Utah Technical College and worked for 35 years at Geneva Steele. He then finished his career working at Brigham Young University. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, white water rafting, snowmobiling and walking his dog. He loved playing games with his family. He was a loving husband and excellent father, grandfather and great grandfather. Leon was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. He loved serving a mission with his wife in Frankfurt, Germany. They also served for several years at the Bishops’ Storehouse.

Leon is survived by Sue, his wife of 64 years and his 4 children: Scott, Terri, Kelli and Kevin: 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.

A viewing will be held Friday, July 30th from 6-8 pm at the Grandview 10th ward meeting house (1600 N. 1880 W. Provo, Ut). He will be buried with military honors. A graveside service for his family will be held on Saturday.  Condolences may be expressed to the family on this page.
