John Schrader

John Robert Schrader, 74, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in Orem, Utah. John was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Karl Frederick Schrader and Pauline Bates in 1945. He married Bonnie Bussio on August 30, 1968 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage.

John served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in Korea. He attended BYU and graduated with a degree in secondary education, and later with an MBA. John enjoyed successful careers in both the mechanical and computer industries. His hobbies included singing, reading, welding, and restoring old vehicles. In August, he completed the restoration of a 1952 firetruck. He was an excellent father and grandfather and his greatest love was his family. He often said, “I don't know how I got such great kids and grandkids.” He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed many years of faithful service.

John is survived by his wife Bonnie and two daughters: Shelley (Scott) Dalebout of Midway, Utah; Jody (Paul) Peterson of Salt Lake City, Utah; and 6 grandchildren: Jordan, Andrew, and Matthew Dalebout and Emma, JohnPaul, and Anna Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Schrader.

Funeral services will held Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at 11am in the 6th Ward Chapel located at 500 South 600 West, Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Monday, December 2 from 6 to 8pm at the Sundberg Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street in Orem, and on Tuesday just prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30am. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion.
