Jane Anderberg

April 21, 1926 — August 12, 2022

Orem, Utah

Our beautiful, loving, caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Jane Claire McGee Anderberg passed peacefully to the other side of the veil on Friday, August 12th at the age of 96 at her residence in Layton, Utah reuniting with her eternal companion LaMar.

Jane was born on April 21, 1926 in Caldwell, Idaho to Charles Archie McGee and Elvie Berenice Bentley McGee. She was the youngest of three children. She had two older brothers. She spent the majority of her younger years in Caldwell trying to keep up with her older brothers Keane and Charles. She also loved spending time with her Grandfather McGee on his tulip farm. Her family moved to Orem, Utah during her senior year of high school. While attending Lincoln High she met LaMar. After high school she and her family returned to Caldwell, Idaho where she attended the College of Idaho. LaMar left to serve in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of War. After LaMar returned from

World War II they maintained a long distance relationship for a year. They decided a year was long enough and they were married at her parents home in Caldwell on April 12, 1947. They were later sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints on September 30, 2000. They honeymooned in Utah and remained there the rest of their married life. They were blessed with three children, Steven, Kevin, and Rachelle.

Jane designed their final home which LaMar built and she lived for 63 years. She worked at Albertson’s in Orem for 22 ½ years. She retired as the head checker. She was friends with everyone that came into the store. She loved people and loved helping them.

Jane loved to play games. She played in several bridge clubs over the last 65 years where she made lifelong friends. She loved to win. She was extremely competitive even with her grandchildren playing games on Christmas. She was a prolific reader. She loved books and continued to listen to audiobooks after losing most of her eyesight due to macular degeneration. She joined the Orem Women’s Club after retirement where she enjoyed being with other women from Orem. During her time in the Women’s Club she served as historian and treasurer. One of her favorite activities at the Women's Club was the fashion show in which she participated as a model several times along with her daughter and granddaughter. She loved clothes and she REALLY loved shopping. She always looked her best even when just hanging around the house.

She loved boating and camping with her family and friends. She loved to travel by car, boat, or air. She was enthusiastic about going to new places and learning new things. She had such an excitement about facts and gaining knowledge. Her mind was extremely sharp and she had an affinity for geography and history. She continued to balance her checkbook to the penny until her failing eyesight kept her from doing so.

She enjoyed working in the yard with LaMar. She loved flowers and keeping her yard colorful and beautiful. She was an amazing baker. Best known by her grandchildren was her marvelous strawberry-rhubarb pie. It was truly amazing.

After she retired she and LaMar were called to work at the Family History Center. It was here that she grew to love researching her ancestors and doing genealogy work. She spent many, many hours doing the research and performing work for them in the temple.

Her greatest joy was her family. She loved being with them and serving them. She always wanted to make sure everybody was happy, comfortable, and had everything they needed. She was selfless, putting the needs of others before her own. Friends were also very important to her. She was a loyal and loving friend.

She was never idle. Even while sitting she had to have something to do. She would quilt, crochet, and sew. She was an amazing seamstress. She made many of her clothes and a lot of Shelley’s clothes.

After living in Orem for 75 years and in her last home for 63 of those years, she moved to Layton to be near her daughter. She lived in Fairfield Village. She quickly made friends and was very engaged in the activities. She especially loved playing bingo and Phase 10. The staff at Fairfield was amazing. Everyone there loved Jane and treated her with the utmost consideration. They were so sweet to her. Her last nine months of her life at Fairfield were filled with joy.

Jane is survived by her three children Steven LaMar (Suzanne) Anderberg of Lehi, Kevin Dale Anderberg of Orem, and Rachelle Anderberg (George) Snell of Layton; 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Jordan, Jaren, Michael, Nathan, Brennen, Adam, Avery, Sean, Paige, 2 step-grandsons, Dan and Steve, 13 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, and 6 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Ray LaMar Anderberg, her parents and two brothers Keane McGee and Charles McGee.

We want to express our love and gratitude to the Moody family next door for treating Jane with so much love and kindness. They loved her like their own grandmother. She loved them like family.

We will miss you Mom. Love you long time. Talk to you later.
