Jackie Burns

Lavada Jacquelyn “Jackie” Burns, was born in Long Beach, California, on November 19, 1937 to Bob and Wanda Burns.  She was raised by her grandparents, Don and Alberta Simmons, and grew up in North Long Beach.  She attended David Starr Jordan High School where she graduated in 1955.  She was active in drama and made many life-long friends.  She was married in 1954 and remarried in 1963.

She is survived by one sister, Maureen McKovich; one brother, George McKovich; two children: son,  Michael Incardone; and daughter, Melodi Nantes. She has seven grandchildren: Dawn Rodriguez, Lacey Hoy, Lindsey Hoy, Jason Hoy, Cody Shaddix, Austin Shaddix and Brett Incardone; and eight great-grandchildren:  Colette Rodriguez, Scarlett Rodriguez, Jaden Hayes, Ethan Hayes, Owen Hayes, Cristian Bernal, Charlie Hoy, and Bristol Hoy.  She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Foster.

Jackie was an accomplished musician and singer and spent over half her life in Nashville, Tennessee where she had an amazing country and western recording career through the 1960’s and 70’s.  She moved to Provo, Utah in 1998 and was a devoted member of her church.  She developed wonderful relationships within her congregation and neighbors, and she loved her home.  She developed health complications recently, which left her housebound, but never affected her amazing spirit.  She was beautiful, talented, kind, and devoted to the happiness of her friends and family.

She died quietly on November 26, 2019 from complications of a stroke, but not before touching the hearts of her entire medical team.  She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.  Her music and memory will live on forever.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State Orem, Utah where friends may visit family from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services.  Interment Provo City Cemetery.
