Harold Yost

August 19, 1938 — October 11, 2019

Harold Layton Yost passed away peacefully at the age of 81 in his home in Orem, Utah, Friday October 11th, 2019 at approximately 1:00pm, following a gradual decline in his health.

Harold leaves behind an abundance of adoring family and friends, all of whom will love and miss him dearly. His wife Terese Condon Yost, whom he married August 23rd, 2004. His three beautiful daughters, Charlotte (Gary), Kathleen (Arild), and Heidi (Mea), as well as three step-children, Kathy, Nikki, and Johnny that he loved dearly.

Hal made sure to leave behind a legacy too, this included his 17 grandchildren (Mackenzie, Trevor,  Prairie, Damon, Abbey, Daisy, Shirsten, Keith, Braiden, April, Hannah, Kamea, Cooper, Dillon, Nicolas, Triston, PJ), and a continuously growing clan of what will soon be 7 great-grandchildren (Lucy, Stella, Vivian, Kyden, Layla, and two soon to come)

Born August 19th, 1938 to parents Layton William Yost and Wilma Ester Ball Yost in Inglewood, California, where he grew up alongside his sister, Marilyn Louise Yost and brother, Ronald Dale Yost. He graduated from Inglewood High School in 1956 and went on to join the United States Navy, where he eagerly trained and traveled on the USS Hopewell destroyer, serving as a fire control tech from 1956-1959.

After serving in the Navy he began his career as an electrical engineer for Hughes Aircraft for 33 years; happily indulging his love for planes, his good looks, and a natural knack for crunching numbers. He met wife (Trez) square-dancing the night away in 1991, something that would later come to be a favorite date night activity. In 2000 after retiring, he moved to Utah where he enjoyed many years of exploring the Utah mountains by car, bike, plane, boat, and foot, tending to his garden and plants while traveling often. Harold spent many happy years soaking up good days with his loved ones, family and friends who will never forget the mark left by this kind-hearted man; we’ll forever carry your light.

We love you Grandpa Hal!
