Ellen Price

January 26, 1948 — October 6, 2020

On Tuesday, October 6, 2020, a big piece of our hearts slipped away to Heaven. Ellen “Ellie” Marlene Sorrells Price was born January 26, 1948, in Provo, UT to William G and Sarah Ann Lossee. She was the fourth of six children in her family. Ellie had the most sparkly eyes and happy smile there ever was.

She spent her childhood and teenage years in joy and mischief with her lifelong Farr Ave friends and graduated from Provo High School in 1966. That same year she married her “favorite boyfriend” Stephen M Price. Together they had two wild boys, Scott and Jeff. While they later divorced, they remained lifelong friends and spent many more Christmases and birthday parties together.

She later married Bill Harmon and together they had many adventures until his death in 2013.

Ellen’s “Grandma Game” was spot on, it was the role she was born for. There was nothing in her life that was more important to her than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all have many special memories of times she spent with them at sleepovers, shopping trips, at Utah Lake and in her yard and garden with the dogs. She loved to talk and brag about what they were up to and how proud of them she was. Even when she couldn’t be at the events they were doing, they knew she was cheering them on and always will.

Ellen’s heart was full of service and love for others. She would give her time to anyone in need: family, friends or strangers. Even her smile could radiate her love for you across a room, and a hug would surely follow. She was an example to us all of kindness, selflessness and gratitude. She never had anything mean spirited to say and was always respectful of others beliefs and feelings.

You could often find her in her huge garden tending her vegetables. She’d make sure anyone that needed them walked away with a basket full of tomatoes, squash, cucumbers and anything else they wanted. Her flowers in her yard were always beautiful and bright, overflowing onto her porch. She had a talent for painting ceramics at the Springville Senior Center and made many gifts for those she loved there. Ellen also loved her dogs, she had many furry little companions over the years and would do anything for them. She loved all of God’s creatures but snakes, she hated those.

At her 50th year High School Reunion, in 2016, she re-met Terry Balser. They married in March of 2017. Together they reminded each other of how wonderful and fun life can be. They spent time outdoors, camping, gardening and traveling. They made each other very happy. Thank you Terry, from all of us, for giving all your love to Ellie and bringing back the sunshine to her life.

Ellen is survived by her husband, Terry; her two sons Scott (Melina) Price and Jeff (Heather) Price both of Orem, Ut. Her sister JJ (Clint) Judd of West Valley, Ut; her brother Gary (Diane) Sorrells of Lindon, Ut. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Damon (America) Price, Jordon Price, Emily Pacheco, Barbara Pacheco, Melissa Pacheco; Sadie (Haydn) Hutchinson, Jace Price and Zina Price; great-grandchildren, Barron and Blaine Price. She also had a special place in her heart for Terry’s son Jared (Jessica) Balser and his children Bela, Kyla and Kole.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three of her siblings William Oren Sorrells, Lee Roy Sorrells and Della Maureen Sorrells Morgan.

We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for all the love and care they showed to Ellie during her hospital stay. We have heard many wonderful stories of how many lives she touched while she was there.
