Doris Shepherd

May 9, 1934 — July 12, 2020

Doris Adell Hall Shepherd, 86, of Orem, Utah, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, July 12, 2020. Doris was born May 9, 1934 in Grantsville, Utah, to Earl and Afton Hall. She was the second of four children. Doris married Orvin LeRoy Shepherd on Dec. 8, 1956, in Yuma, Arizona. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

Doris was a homemaker and mom for most of her life. She would bottle fruits, jams and even fish. She liked to sew, even sewing some of her children's clothing, which was sometimes not appreciated. She enjoyed making quilts. Doris loved to read all kinds of books! She loved doing puzzles, and playing games with her kids, even after they were grown. Doris was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints most of her life. She enjoyed most of her callings, but she really loved being a Visiting Teacher and a temple worker in the Billings Montana LDS Temple. She was the type of person who could and would talk to and listen to anybody at any time. She was a friendly, caring woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Doris is survived by: her husband, Orvin Shepherd of Orem, Utah and her brother, Don Hall of Orem, Utah. She is also survived by four of her children: Tonya (Sterling) Young, of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Kevin Shepherd, of Dubai, UAE; Gerry (Alice) Shepherd, of Logan, Utah; Lorri (Fritz) Waechtler, of Carlton, Oregon. She leaves a legacy of seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren (and counting)! Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Afton Hall; her sister Ruby (Ed) Monjar; her brother, Dale Hall; an infant son, Robert Shepherd; and her first child; Randall Shepherd. We believe that she had a great family reunion when she passed!

Doris will be buried Thursday July 16, 2020, in the Levan Cemetery next to her infant son Robert. The family will be planning a memorial service later on, when circumstances will allow it. In lieu of flowers please donate to the CF Foundation, at https://www.cff.org/give-today/ . Our family wishes to thank you for your love and support at this difficult time!
