David Hall

David Reed Hall, 81, of Orem, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020. David was born February 2, 1939 in Price, Utah to Charles Reed and Elma Fitt Hall. David married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Thacker, August 20, 1959 at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They shared 61 years together.

For the first seven years of Dave’s life, he lived in Green River, Utah. When he was seven years old, his father passed away. He lived the rest of his life in Utah County.  Dave attended Lincoln High School and was among the first graduating class of Orem High School (1957). Dave was involved in several sports including track and field, basketball, and football.  He held the record for Shotput for many years. Dave worked at Geneva Steel for 37 years, in which he received recognition for saving a coworkers life. During his career, he served as Foreman at the Central Maintenance Shop. Throughout his life, Dave held many titles. He spent time as the President of the GRA, taught Hunter’s Education, taught High Voltage Lead Splicing at Salt Lake Community College, was President of the Provo Gun Club, and was a lifetime member of the ATA. Dave was an accomplished Trap shooter, winning several championships. He was in the IBEW LU #354 for 61 years, as well as the Steelworkers Union. Dave coached boxing for Dell’s Boxing Club and was a national referee for amateur boxing.  He was an official Olympic Amateur Boxing Referee. Dave loved the outdoors, spending his free time working in the yard, camping, and hunting. Dave held many LDS church callings, including executive secretary and teaching primary. He especially enjoyed teaching the 16 year old young men and women.

Dave & Patt had 9 children. However, he was also a father figure to his in-laws as well as many family & friends. David was preceded in death by his mom and dad. He is survived by his wife; Patricia Ann Hall, sister; RoxieAnn (Bill) Rouleau, in-laws; Martha (Jim) Campbell, John (Stacey) Thacker, Nancy (Darrell) Noble, Liz (Tim) Frederick, 9 children; Cherri (Lynn) Miller, Charles (Diane) Hall, Patti (Evan) Ward, Robert (Sandy) Hall, Douglas (Kristy) Hall, Cathrene Thompson, Benjamin (Renee) Hall, Angeline (Klay) Eva, AmiAnne (Daniel) Means, 38 grandchildren, and 55 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 11:00 am in the Orem 2nd ward LDS stake center, located at 80 South 280 East, Orem, Utah 84058. Due to state COVID-19 guidelines, a viewing for friends and family unable to attend funeral services will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Sundberg Olpin Mortuary at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah 84058. A viewing for family will be held from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the funeral. Burial will be held in the Orem City Cemetery. We ask that you please wear masks and tune in via Facebook Live if you are feeling ill or unable to attend services.  In lieu of flowers, Dave requested loved ones to take their families out for a special treat.
