Dan Turner

June 23, 1926 — July 26, 2022

Orem, Utah

On June 23rd, 1926, John and Mabel Turner welcomed their first child, Dan Giles Turner, to their family in San Diego, California. They relocated many times during Dan’s childhood, particularly enjoying the Heber and Park City, Utah areas. He graduated from high school there and was drafted into the Army Infantry in World War II. He was stationed in the Philippines and Hiroshima, Japan areas. He returned home to continue his education at Utah State University where he received his Master’s in Dairy Science and met his sweetheart Beulah Jackson. Although he never owned a small dairy farm as he had envisioned, he began his alternate career path when he took the opportunity to go to work with his parents at Economy Office Furniture in Southern California. After rekindling their friendship, Dan and Beulah were married on August 27, 1965 in the Salt Lake City Temple and raised their four children in Santa Ana, California. Dan’s interests included bird watching, reading, wood working, and he loved directing and organizing the church dances. Far above these personal interests and hobbies ranked his family and his faith.  He loved his family, enjoyed playing with his kids and was a wonderful husband. Over the years, he faithfully fulfilled many different callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, demonstrating in action his love and devotion to our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Dan passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.  He is survived by his loving wife Beulah, his son Kent (Lisa) Turner of Flowery Branch, GA and three daughters, Diane (Jason) Tingey of Great Falls, MT; Gayle (Craig) Ellison of Star, ID; and Carol (David) Robertson of Orem, UT and fourteen grandchildren who adore their grandfather. They knew they were deeply loved whenever they visited Grandma and Grandpa. His wife and family already miss the boundless love he gave freely, his cheerful outlook, sunny smile, and his all-encompassing bear hugs. His light and legacy of love will live on in our memories!

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Howard (Delma) Turner, Richard (Patricia) Turner, and his sister Elaine (Gerald) Romriell.
