Cynthia D'Acquisto

May 20, 1946 — January 30, 2020

Cynthia Marie Spaulding D’Acquisto, age 73 of Orem, died January 30th, 2020 from the insidious disease Dementia. Cindy was born May 20, 1946 in Lowell, MA, the family moved to Lakewood, California in 1954.

Cindy went to work for McDonnell Douglas ( later Boeing) at the age of 17 at the Long Beach Plant, alongside her Mother, Father, Brother-in-law, Aunt and Uncle. Because she was so tiny McDonnell Douglas would put her in the nose of the plane to do the wiring, no one else could fit! Cindy was an Electrical Engineer and worked in management as well. Very impressive for a young woman without a high school diploma.

She divorced in 1972 having only one living child.

In 1985 Cindy earned her GED, she was so so proud.

Cindy retired early and lived with her only child Theresa “Teri” & Kelly Sundberg, as well as her grandchildren and their spouses Taylor Ann (Shane) Beutler and Paige Breanne (Jayme) Rigler all of Saratoga Springs and Logan Isaac Sundberg of Orem . They were the love of her life. She doted on her grandchildren and literally gave them whatever they wanted, much to the dismay of their parents.

Cindy was a gifted seamstress, making the kids AMAZING Halloween costumes. She made all her daughter’s clothes as a child.

She was the baby of 4 children born to Roderick Jay Spaulding and Dorothy Marie Souci Spaulding Moreno. She was strong willed and an extremely hard worker, and a fun and spunky grandma. She knew a little about everything.

She was preceded in death by her father, her stepfather Leo Moreno who she cared for along with her mother until their deaths, She and her mother permanently moved to Utah in 2001, they lived at the families Funeral Home, Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary and enjoyed helping where she could and playing with her grandchildren.

She was also preceded by her sister Beverly Arroyo, her stillborn son Mark Anthony D’Acquisto . She is survived by her sister Donna (Joe, deceased) Kennedy of CA, her brother Bruce Spaulding of AZ, as well as her nieces and nephews and her daughter and son-in law of Orem. As well as her “perfect” grandchildren who lovingly called her Nanna. She taught her family to love unconditionally.

To be honest she was a bit of a fabric hoarder and surrounded herself with beautiful fabric. Dementia took away her ability to sew.

A viewing will be held Wednesday February 5th 2020 from 11 am to 1:30 pm at the Sundberg-Olpin Funeral home, 495 South State Street, Orem. A private family graveside to follow at the Orem City Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone at Covington Village for the loving care they showed to our Nanna and our family, especially Megan and Della,Kylie, with a special thanks for her nurses Lexi & Ninette from Tendercare Hospice. These kind, selfless and loving women are amazing and helped our family face the inevitable. And Danny Barrett at the Orem City Cemetery for his kindness. As well as Jane Barrett for just being Jane and making sure all our needs were met.

In lieu of flowers, please hug your children and grandchildren, perform a random act of kindness, or buy some fabric!

Condolences maybe expressed to the family on this page.
