Clyde Fowler Jr.

April 5, 1953 — December 21, 2020

Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Clyde, age 67, passed away peacefully Monday, December 21, 2020 from dementia. Clyde Walter Fowler, Jr., was born on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1953. He was the only son of Clyde Walter and Lois Thorup Fowler.

Clyde grew up in Holladay, Utah.  He was a cute boy and was treated like a prince by his adoring sisters.  While he was known for his well mannered nature, he could also be a tease.  He graduated from Granite High School in 1971, and was proud of his alma mater.  He married Stephanie Gardner on March 5, 1976 in the Logan Temple and together they raised five sons;  Clyde enjoyed every minute with his boys.

Clyde was blessed with a keen mind for numbers. His professional life was spent at Regence (Blue Cross Blue Shield) in several different positions including cost accounting and building services.  He was very capable and highly respected throughout his career.

His life was defined by service. He served faithfully as a missionary in the Canada Alberta Saskatchewan mission. He held many callings throughout his life including Bishop, High Priests Group Leader, and Regional Welfare Representative. His favorite calling was that of a home teacher and ministering brother.

He was also able to serve a few missions with his favorite companion, his wife. They spent two summers at the Mormon Handcart Historic Sites mission (Martin’s Cove). Then they hung up their cowboy hats and donned name tags again as they served as hosting missionaries at the Conference Center at Temple Square.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, and his five sons: Clyde III (Tamsen), Greg (Melissa), David (Tiffany), Bryan (Collette), and Scott (Marinda). He leaves a legacy of love and laughter for his twenty-four grandchildren. He also leaves behind four sisters: Genene (Martin) Chamberlain, Lana (Alan) Richardson, Susan (Lyman) Smith, and Deanne (Joe) Flurer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Frank and Mary Gardner, and his sister, Betty.

The family would like to express our gratitude to everyone at Ashford Memory Care and Inspiration Hospice for their care and the way they treated Clyde like family.

In memory of Clyde, we ask that you find an opportunity to serve someone this holiday season.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 am for immediate family by invitation only.  Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens in Holladay, Utah, immediately following the funeral service.
