Carolyn Madigan

Carolyn Teverbaugh Madigan of Highland, Utah, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022. She was born in Hardtner, Kansas on July 22, 1943, to Maggie Mae (Lake) and Paul Snyder Teverbaugh. She grew up in Forgan, Oklahoma on a farm with her parents and twin brothers, Paul “Roy” and Silas “Ray.” Teverbaugh. After moving to California, she married Jake Madigan on June 11, 1965, in Canoga Park, and was sealed to him and her sons in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1975.

Many early memories Carolyn shared revolved around life on the farm, including some of her best friends, her cows. She also talked about being in an extremely small school (graduating class of 40), and life after her mother was in a serious car accident. Her mother eventually passing away when she was a teenager. She eventually would move to California to live with her brother and subsequently marry, help build a house, and raise a family in the Los Angeles area (Chatsworth). She spent most of her adult life as a dedicated stay-at-home mom, but also worked before having children as a keypunch operator and later as a dental assistant in an orthodontics office. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and loved her pets as her second children.

After her husband Jake retired, she succeeded in convincing him to move to Utah, where they built a home in Highland. She was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and dedicated mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Jake, and sons Vance (Jessica) and Lance (Sara). At the time of her death, she had eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel at 9626 N 6800 W, Highland, Utah, on Saturday, January 29th. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30, with a memorial service at 2:00 pm and interment immediately following at the American Fork Cemetery.
