Alan Christopherson

October 29, 1937 — August 9, 2019

Alan J. Christopherson, 81, of Provo, Utah, passed away on Friday, August 9th, 2019, surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born October 29th, 1938 in his parent’s log cabin home in Palmyra, Utah on the South East shore of Utah Lake. He married Gisela Irma Binder on May 15th, 1964 in the Manti Temple, who proceed him in death on September 25th, 2005. He is also proceeded in death by his son Gary Christopherson on September 14th, 2005.  After being alone for several years Alan met and later married Lydia Greenwood on October 23rd, 2010.

Alan graduated from Spanish Fork High School. He served a successful mission for The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-Day Saints in San Jose, California. Many whom he taught and converted to the church become lifelong friends. For most of his working career, Alan was employed by Brigham Young University in receiving & stores, becoming the warehouse foreman before his retirement. Many of his co-workers where his closest friends over the years.

Alan was a skilled outdoorsman and avid fisherman. He took his family on many memorable fishing outings. He also started a fish & bait business that involved his sons and daughters in catching and packaging minnows and nightcrawlers that were sold to sporting goods stores and gas stations to supplement the family income. He also bought and sold secondhand items to help provide for his large family.

Alan is survived by his wife Lydia of Provo, Utah, his children, Karl A. (Emily) Christopherson of Orchard Park, New York, Lorie Rowley of Orem, Utah, Lynn A. (Melanie) Christopherson of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Michael J. (Saida) Christopherson of Springville, Utah, Sharon (Tim) Goff of Orem, Utah, Kristine (Roy) Stevens of West Valley, Utah, David Christopherson of Orem, Utah, Robert (Nicole) Christopherson of Hixon, Tennessee, Mark (Kali) Christopherson of Vineyard, Utah, and Paul (Amanda) Christopherson of Orem, Utah. He leaves behind 29 grandchildren, his brothers Grant Christopherson of Spanish Fork, Utah and Melvin Christopherson of Spanish Fork, Utah. His sisters Linda Gonzales and Donna Barney preceded him in death. Stepchildren Bryan Greenwood, Rebekah Rasmussen and Mathew Greenwood.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1600 North 1880 West, Provo Utah. Viewing services will be from 9:30-10:30 with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be at the Orem City Cemetery 1520 North 800 East, Orem, Utah.
