July 28, 1925 – June 20, 2025
Zane Stevens Taylor passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on June 20, 2025, just a month shy of turning 100 years old. Zane was born in Ephraim, Utah, on July 28, 1925, to Lavor Taylor and Marguerite Stevens Taylor, the third of four children. He grew up in a loving home and was influenced heavily by his testimony-filled grandmother.
He served in the Army during World War 2, in General George S. Patton’s Third Army, 35th Infantry Division, 320 Regiment, 1st Battalion, Company C. He served in France, Belgium, and Germany. He spent many months on the front lines, including in the Battle of the Bulge, before earning a Purple Heart and spending time in several hospitals to recover before going home. His war stories were enjoyed by countless friends, family members, and admirers.
Zane attended Snow College after the war, where he met his eternal sweetheart, Beth Taylor. They were both elected as King and Queen of Founders Day. They were married May 26, 1947, in the Manti Temple. After their marriage, Zane attended and graduated from the University of Utah with a BS engineering degree in mechanical engineering. He had a long career at US Steel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Annalee Stonehocker (Nelson), and all of his siblings and their spouses, Donald Taylor (Martha), Norma Lawrence (Larry), and Margene Campbell (Bill).
Zane was a true disciple of Jesus Christ, a loving father, grandfather, neighbor, ward member, and friend. He was a devoted husband to Beth for over 72 years. He was a gifted storyteller, speaker, and magnified all of his callings in the church.
A viewing for friends and family will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 50 S. 800 E, Orem, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the same location starting at 10:30 AM.
Condolences for the family may be expressed on this page.
