Zane Allen Chartrand

Zane Allen Chartrand, born July 9, 1972 in Englewood (Denver), Colorado passed away on August 20, 2025 in Provo, Utah of coronary artery disease at age 53. He is survived by his wife Catherine Spangler Chartrand, father Zane Mason Chartrand, siblings Keri Knorpp (John), Jonathan Chartrand (Brianda), and Timothy Chartrand (Kate), son, Ethan Chartrand (Sadie), daughters, Madison and Caitlin Chartrand, and granddaughter, Nellie. He was preceded in death by his incredible mother Alice Elaine Clint Chartrand and half-sister Sariah Chartrand-Vinson.

A graduate of Callisburg High School, Zane played the trumpet in band, enjoyed tennis, and attended Barnes Business College and Utah Valley University. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Toronto, Canada for two years in his youth. He was a devoted husband and father and an active member of the church throughout his life. His favorite calling was being a Sunday school teacher.

Zane married Jeannette Petersen in 1994 and had a son, Ethan in 1996. They divorced in 1998. On October 28, 1999, he married Catherine L. Spangler and had two daughters, Madison (2000) and Caitlin (2002). Zane and Catherine were married for almost 26 years. Zane worked for many years as an IT systems administrator and then travelled the United States doing construction for Cornell-Cookson and installing and repairing large church accordion doors.

A talented writer, Zane authored many short stories and wrote three novels. He loved to teach and cook and valued quality time with his family and friends.

He served others with laughter, smiles, scripture stories, silly dad jokes and always left them with full bellies.

Zane’s hallmark is his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. His testimony carried him through the challenges he faced throughout his life. He bravely endured his long term illness til the end of this life and is now a guardian angel watching over those he loved until they will be reunited again.
