Victoria Branin Giles

Victoria “Vicki” Branin Giles, age 71 of Orem, Utah, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Vicki was born August 15, 1952, in Montebello, California, to George William and Joyce Ritchie Branin. She was a true Baby Boomer as her mom and dad met and married in Australia in 1944 during World War II while her dad was in the US Army serving on a troop carrier. She had two older siblings, Gordon William Branin (Karen) and Joan Branin (Jerry Hall).

Vicki grew up in Orem, attended Sharon Elementary, Orem Junior High, and Orem High, and graduated high school in 1970. She also graduated from LDS Seminary in May 1969.

She married DeLain Glaid Giles on June 9, 1972. Vicki and DeLain lived in Utah Valley, living most of the time in Orem. Together they raised their five children: Christopher William Giles (Denise), Heather Giles, Andrea Romero (Marcelino), Jeffrey Glaid Giles, and Ashley Victoria Berrelleza (Daniel). Vicki was a Den Mother in the Cub Scout Program, Pack 3467.

She got her Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Utah Valley State College (UVU), graduating in 1984. Over the years she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Utah Valley Hospital, several long-term care centers in Utah County, finishing her nursing career working as a claims adjudicator with First Choice Home Health and Hospice, retiring in 2017. She had many patients who she loved and cared for. She made many friends among her coworkers.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed painting ceramics, and loved going to Wendover, Disneyland, and Legoland. She loved making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lost her beloved father in April 1984 and her mother in February 1986. She was preceded in death by DeLain on January 25, 2021, her mother-in-law Patricia Giles in March 2020 and her father-in-law Reginald Rex Giles in December 2021. In August 2022 she lost her grandson Levi Garrett Giles.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 6-8 pm at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at the LDS Chapel located at 400 North 400 East in Orem with a viewing held that morning at the church from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to the services.
