Veva Jean Sego, known to her family as “Jean,” died at the age of 84 years old, in Orem, Utah, on Saturday, October 4, 2025, in the Cascades at Orchard Park Care Center. She was born in the San Luis Valley in Romeo, Co, in Conejos County on March 19, 1941, to Neva (Wilson) and Raymond Sego. Her life, until this last two years, was spent in Colorado, mostly in Cortz area with our mother.
Jean never married or had any children of her own – though it was something she wanted very much. Instead, she got to help with the many children our mom brought into this world.
When Jean was 4 months old, she had a bad case of pneumonia, which, because of high fever, caused her to become learning impaired. After 7 years of public schooling, our mom decided to keep her home – she just wasn’t able to “make the grade.”
There were 18 of us all, placed in order of birth with the living siblings underscored; Barbara Sego (Larry) Bailey, set of twins – Riley & Mariah Sego, Jean Sego, Sharon Sego (Deon) Gubler, Ray Sego, Rod Sego, John (Betty) Sego, Mayonne Sego (Don) Gregory, Vontella Sego, Daniel Sego, Marilee Sego, David Sego (Vicki), Radine Sego (John) Ackland, Steven Sego, Michael Sego, half-sisters Neva Ann Bolton Collins & Patricia Bolton Young.
Jean loved being with family and all the activity that took place there, and going to church! Jean has many nieces & Nephews. Jean’s family loved her very much, and she will surely be missed.
Jean’s Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 485 East Center Street, Orem, Utah. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. before the services at the church.
Condolences for the family may be expressed on this page.
