Thelma Grace Zweifel McKinlay, 96, of Lindon, Utah, passed peacefully from this life, on July 30, 2025. She was born October 12, 1928, in Dubois, Clark County, Idaho to John Zweifel and Eliza Hermina Felix Zweifel. She married Blaine Ford McKinlay on April 2, 1952, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2004.
Thelma was a courageous believer in her Savior Jesus Christ. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served two full time missions. The first mission was during her youth (Western States Mission) and the second with her husband Blaine (Austria Vienna East Mission). Later in life she enjoyed family history activities and attended the temple often. She was dedicated to lifelong learning and always quick to share what she had been studying. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her large family. Her greatest joy was sharing her testimony of Jesus Christ with those around her.
Thelma is survived by two sons – Rodney (Lori Genta) McKinlay of Westfield, IN and Mark (Laurie Haynie) McKinlay of Holladay, UT; two daughters – Bonnie Valek of Lehi, UT and Colleen (Vonn) Logan of Laie, HI; her brother Frank Zweifel of Bozeman, MT; 18 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Douglas Blaine, daughter Gail, parents John (Eliza Hermina) Zweifel, three brothers – John, Joseph and Glen and six sisters – Mary, Elda, Jennie, Della, Mildred and Annie.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held prior to the funeral services from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery located at 600 South Yellowstone Highway, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
