Suzanne Dixon

Suzanne Dixon passed away on July 19, 2104.

Suzanne was born in Manhattan, NYC to Anthony I. Eyring of Pima, AZ & the former Lois Rockhill of Spanish Fork, UT. An only child, Suzanne, grew up on Long Island, NY, until she left home to attend BYU in 1948.

She was married 54 years to James R. Dixon until his death in 2010; their marriage was solemnized in the Sale Lake Temple on February 8, 1952.

James' career as an executive of the Chevron Corporation took the family to Boston, New York, San Francisco, New Orleans & Louisville, KY. In Louisville, Suzanne served as Branch Relief Society President, District Relief Society President and Executive Secretary to the Mission President.

She returned to college where she completed her BA and Master's Degree in Education at Indiana University where she graduated Suma Cum Laude. Upon graduation, she chose to teach in an inner-city school with disadvantaged children. In keeping with her dedication to education, she established an endowed scholarship at BYU for women returning to college.

She continued her Church service as a Primary teacher in Moraga, CA. Suzanne was an active member of AAUW (American Association of University Women) and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her husband's career with Chevron eventually took her around the world. A cultured woman and charming hostess, she established friendships in Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Paris, & London. She led a Christian life as outlined in the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Suzanne is survived by her son Mark E. Dixon of San Francisco, CA, her daughter Diane Eyre, who oversaw her affairs during the last 6 ½ years of her prolonged illness in Orem. Her grandson Connor Eye and son-in-law Nick G. Eyre of Orem also survive.

A private graveside service & Interment was held at Spanish Fork Cemetery.
