Capt. Steven Allan Young

Steven Allan Young, aged 75, passed away in Vineyard, Utah on Sept. 1, 2021, after a short illness. He was born Dec. 7, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to James Harrell Young and Nita Joyce Jones. He married Patricia Anne Oroian, on July 2, 1966, in Dallas, Texas, and was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Steven began his military service in the Naval Reserve and then joined the US Air Force, where he served for 26 years on active duty, retiring as a Captain. He held a Bachelor's degree in Social Psychology and a Master's degree in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. He enjoyed camping, visiting the National Parks, and spending time with his family. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a Home Teacher, Ward Missionary, High Priest, Bishop, Stake High Councilman, and a counselor in the Stake Presidency. He was a member of the Lions Club, and the Quilts of Valor Foundation. He was known by many for his love, hugs, and smiles.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his five children: Tara (Kevin) Snow of Midway, UT, Robin (Russel) Brown of Elk Ridge, UT, James H. Young of San Marcos, TX, Emily (Chris) Olivo of Southbridge, MA, and Elizabeth Young of San Francisco, CA. Brother: Steele (Caroline) Young, nieces: Natalia Young, and Carissa Young of San Diego, CA.  Niece: Jennifer (Jamie) Young-Perlman, of San Francisco, CA. Nephews: Shane (Stephanie) Young of The Colony, TX, and Chad (Jill) Young of Frisco, TX. Grandchildren: Adam (Megan) Brown, Lexi (Benjamin) Cowley, Julia (Collin) Black, Donovan (Kristen) Olivo, Abby (Spencer) Wuthrich, Spencer (Haylie) Brown, Devon Olivo, Olivia (Samuel) Tullis, Christopher (Paige) Olivo, Haleigh (Logan) Johnson, Anna Snow, Avery Brown, Camden Olivo, Emery Olivo, and five great-grand children: Edel, Milo, Timothy, Benton, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; David Michael Young, Gregory Lane Young; and nephew: Kristopher Young.

Funeral services will be held at Camp Williams, 17111 South Camp Williams Rd., Bluffdale, UT on Thursday, Sept. 9th. A viewing for extended family and friends will be held at 1:00 pm, with the service at 1:30 pm, followed by Military Honors at the gravesite.
