Savannah "Skyler" LuRee Johnson

Skyler McKinlay Johnson, 18, of Provo, Utah, passed away on August 2, 2023, at Primary Children's Hospital surrounded by family. Born January 3, 2005, Skyler was born with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), a congenital heart defect. 

Because of this, Skyler has had a very long and arduous history of doctors visits and being in and out of hospitals, from the very day they were born. At age 3 they were sent home from Primary Children’s on hospice because there was nothing left they could do for them. Much to the surprise of everyone else around, nothing ever seemed to get too much worse, and after 2 years on Hospice Skyler was kicked off. We are extremely grateful for the 18 years we did have with Skyler, they taught us more than we could have ever imagined.

Skyler was a happy and kind soul, never failing to make friends wherever they went. Their quick wit and bright smile was guaranteed to brighten the darkest of rooms and they were always the life of any party. 

Skyler loved music, scary movies, cats, and spending time with friends and family, who will all sorely miss them. 

They were preceded in death by their grandfather Steven Kitchen, and leave behind a large and loving family. Especially their siblings, John (Angela) Johnson, Lynn (Justin) Skinner, Joseph Johnson, and August Johnson. 

A public viewing for Skyler will be held Friday, August 11, 2023 from 2pm - 4pm at the Sundberg-Olpin & Wheeler Mortuary in Orem located at 495 S State St Orem, Utah, 84058.
