Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Sadie Leah Jacob Bailey, age 101, passed away from natural causes related to age on February 28, 2020. Mom was born July 25, 1918 in Manchester, England to Hyman Jacob (Chaim Jakubowicz) and Fanny Farber. As a young adult, she learned the millinery trade and later started her own hat shop with her mother in Manchester. During World War II she met and married Keith Reid Bailey of Provo, Utah who was an airplane mechanic in the 8th Army Air Force stationed in Warrington, England. They married in November 1945 and in 1946, she arrived and settled in Provo where she worked at JC Penney and later as a housewife, raising her family.
Sadie was married to Keith for 61 years and raised four children. She was a Jewish convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was sealed to her family in the Salt Lake Temple at the age of 50. She loved to vacation and travel to Europe and enjoyed dancing, playing cards, painting, sewing, crafting, and walking.
She is survived by her four children, Michael S. (Lynn) of Riverton, Rosalind Nicklin (Chuck) of San Diego, California, Robert S. (Tracy) of South Jordan, and Valerie Goates of Springville, along with 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Keith, brother Henry (Lillian), grandchild Tiffany Ann Bailey and great grandchild Alexandria Hilton.
