Ross Hunt, 1947-2025, Orem, UT, was born in Sunnydale, UT, to Genevieve and Joseph Hunt and attended Orem and Bakersfield High Schools. Ross joined the US Marines in 1966 - 1972 and served in Vietnam in 1968-1969. Ross then joined the Utah Highway Patrol and served from 1974-1994 and was awarded the DPS Star for services above and beyond. He and his wife, Jan (Jacks) were married for 42 years.
Ross was a very talented artist who loved to work with wood and enjoyed gifting carvings and artwork to family and friends who cherished his gifts because they came from the heart. He was also a founding member of The Pig Pack motorcycle group. Along with his wife Jan and friends who became family, the Royce's, Fowke's, Mangleson's, Barbre's, Chanthasen's, Brown's, and other great friends, had adventures and traveled all over the western US and Canada. He also loved music of all kinds, reading, learning new skills and was the best sidekick or instigator, depends on who is telling the story. Ross had a heart of gold. The love, kindness, honesty, dedication, generosity, humor, laughter, good natured teasing (and much more) that he demonstrated regularly, Ross has set example for all of us to live by.
He is survived by wife Jan, sister-in-law Edna, brothers Michael (Ruth), Alex (Jeanette), Ted (Becky), Larry (Patti), aunts and uncle, Dora Gutierrez and Marcia and George Martinez, bonus sisters Pat Anderson-Penrod and Rene' Collett, children by previous marriage, Heather (J. Bryan) Payne and Matthew (Paulette) Hunt, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, amazing nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
