Roger Prete

February 8, 1963 – May 7, 2025

Roger Cary Prete, age 62, of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025. He was born on February 8th, 1963, in Melfort, Saskatchewan, to Norman and Clara Prete. He married his sweetheart, Christine Rawlings Prete, in the Jordan River Temple who he met while faithfully serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oakland, CA.

Roger lived a life full of physical hardships; however, despite the challenges he faced, Roger served faithfully in many capacities throughout his life. He held numerous callings in the church, and his faith was a cornerstone, guiding his actions and shaping his deep love for others. Proudly serving in the military and becoming a U.S. Citizen was a chapter in his life that shaped his deep sense of discipline, dedication, and patriotism. He lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service to others.

Roger was a loving husband and a proud father to his six children. He was also a cherished grandfather to his grandchildren, who adored their “Grandpa Roger” and the stories, wisdom, and laughter he shared.

Roger enjoyed woodworking, writing poetry, and creating games and activities for his family and friends. He was an avid collector of coins and knives. A devoted sports fan and natural storyteller, he brought warmth, humor, and heart to every room he entered. His humility, steadfastness, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Roger is survived by his wife; his six children: Clayton (Korri), Brandon (Brittney), Amelia, Ethan, Daelan (Alexa), Ferron (Calista); 10 grandchildren; his mother; and his bonus mother-in-law, Marva Rawlings. He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, Marcel Froc; brothers Stephen and Norman; sister Theresa; step-sister Brigette; and mother and father-in-law, Kathryn and Gene Rawlings.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lakeridge 3rd Ward LDS Chapel located at 158 East 1100 South, Orem, Utah. A closed casket visitation for friends and family will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home, located at 495 South State Street in Orem, and on Saturday, just prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, UT.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. The family would like to give a special thanks to Maple Creek Home Health & Hospice for their dedicated care for Roger.
