Rene’ Saralynne Murdock of Provo passed on to the other side on the 14th of October 2025 at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah. She was born on the 5th of March, 1955, in Portland, Oregon, to Jacob Pfund and Jean Ellen Edwards. She was a third-generation Portlander. She was married in the Provo Temple to Estel Bradley Murdock on the 9th of June, 1979.
Rene’ graduated from Monroe High School in Portland in 1973. She obtained a job at Passport Photos in downtown Portland and was working at that job when she met her husband at church. They married in Provo, Utah in 1979. They had two receptions, one in Amarillo, Texas where Estel’s parents lived, and then one back in Portland where her family was. They attended the 4th and 6th wards of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They had three children, Tamara, Sarah, and Michael in three years, each one at a different address. She worked as a librarian in her church in Portland. Because of heavy financial difficulties, Estel and Rene’ moved to Provo Utah, where he graduated from Provo Utah Community College. They then moved to Amarillo and then to Dumas, Texas. They decided they would do better back in Provo where they found it better to work on their genealogy and family histories. She became a transcriber of records in their local Family History Library, and later, a family history consultant and then one of the directors of that Family History Library. She continued family history work on the computer using the Internet later in the 21st Century after she retired. When at home, she developed her skills in needlework, macrame’, needle tatting, crochet, and bead work. She would sell at shops and The Renaissance Faire at Thanksgiving Point. When she wasn’t doing that, she worked on Family History.
Rene’ is survived by her husband, Estel Bradley Murdock, her sister, Dawn Marie Black who lives in Portland, Oregon, her daughter Tamara Celeste Brogan in New Hampshire, daughter Sarah Felecia Box in Seattle, and son Michael Adam Haskew in the Columbia Gorge.
