Ray Anderberg

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, Ray LaMar Anderberg, 92, passed away peacefully at his home on October 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

LaMar was born to Lloyd LaMar and Pearl Hansen Anderberg on September 5, 1926 in Provo, Utah.  He was the eldest three children.

He grew up in Orem where he learned the value of hard work.  He spent his youth helping his father and uncles harvest fruit on their fruit farm.  He was known as the fastest pear and apple picker in Orem.  He attended school in Orem where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944.  He played football and ran track.  He was the fastest member of his team which gained him the nickname of “rabbit”.

During his senior year he met the pretty “new girl” who moved into town, Jane Claire McGee.  They would later become eternal companions.  He joined the US Navy prior to graduation and later served his country in WWII as a Seabee and Sargent of the Guard on Okinawa.  Upon his return from the war he married his sweetheart, Jane, in Caldwell, Idaho at the home of her parents.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mount Timpanogos Temple.  They built their first home in Orem in 1947 where they were blessed with three children.  They built their present home on his father’s fruit farm in 1957.  They have lived there happily ever since.  They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on April 12th of this year.  He enjoyed working in the yard and took great pride in a beautiful landscape for he and Jane to enjoy.

LaMar attended BYU where he and Jane became avid sports fans.  They enjoyed attending both football and basketball games for many years.

LaMar worked at Geneva Steel in the accounting department for 40 years.  On the side he also worked as a carpenter building many homes in Utah Valley and elsewhere.  He was a meticulous finish carpenter.  This trait for pursuit of perfection carried over into everything he did.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served as a Scoutmaster and a faithful home teacher for many years.

He enjoyed vacationing with his family and friends.  He especially liked the outdoors.  He loved camping, fishing, and boating.  After he retired, he became an avid golfer enjoying time with his golf buddies.

He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.  As a family, we have been greatly blessed to have him in our lives for so many years.

LaMar is survived by his wife Jane, his three children, Steven LaMar (Suzanne), Kevin Dale, and Rachelle Snell (George), ten grandchildren, Amanda, Jordan, Jaren, Michael, Nathan, Brennen, Adam, Avery, Sean, Paige, and two step-grandsons, Dan and Steven.  He also leaves 14 great grandchildren with one on the way, and his sister Elaine Greenhalgh.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and a brother Keith Anderberg.  He loved visits from his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We want to express our love and gratitude to Kyley, Merrilee, Kyson, Taylee, and Tavich Moody who adopted LaMar and Jane as grandparents.  They had a special place in LaMar’s heart.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11 AM in the Orem 3rd Ward Chapel located at 50 South 800 East, Orem, Utah.  A viewing for friends and family will be held prior to the services from 9:00 – 10:45 AM.  Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery with military rights.
