Phuong Le Phillip Nguyen

Phuong Le Phillip Nguyen passed away on November 17, 2017, in Orem, Utah.  He was born on April 10, 1978, sharing the same birthday as his mom, which was only fitting as they were the best of friends and took care of one another. As an only child, he was her world.

Phillip attended Franklin Elementary, Dixon Middle School, Provo High School, and graduated from Timpview High School, Class of 1996.  He later continued his education at Utah Valley University. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a two-year mission in the Atlanta, Georgia, Vietnamese speaking mission from 1997-1999.

Phillip was the life of the party.  He was outgoing and had a wonderful sense of humor.  He took pleasure in making people laugh and made friends easily.  He had the gift to converse freely and relate with anyone and everyone.  He was also a great storyteller with the ability to captivate his audience.

Phillip’s favorite pastime in life was fishing.  Since he was a tiny tot and his grandma (Ngoai) taught him to fish, he was hooked.  He was an avid fisherman who spent a lot of time at the lake.  Second to fishing was his love for animals.  Growing up, he loved to visit the pet store and enjoyed caring for a number of pets throughout his life.

Phillip also enjoyed spending time with family and friends at gatherings surrounded by a lot of great food. He especially enjoyed Asian food, watching sports, and playing card games.

Phillip is survived by his father Phao Nguyen and mother Ngoc Pearl Le; aunts Le Nguyen, Lien Le (The), Anh Le (Jerry), Nga Le, Loan Le; uncles Liem Le (Beckie), Son Le (Beth); and numerous cousins who were like true siblings.  He is preceded in death by his grandfather Nghia Van Le and grandmother Mai Thi Lam.

We will cherish the memories of our road trips to California, cousin nights at Ngoai’s, feeding the ducks and fishing at the lake, your exuberant presence at our family parties, your stories, your pranks, your laughter. We love you and will miss you dearly, Phi!

Services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the LDS Chapel at 140 North 400 West, Orem, Utah.  Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with a life celebration at 11 a.m.  Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery immediately following.
