Pauline Broderick

November 15, 1931 — June 5, 2021

Pauline Sharp Broderick, 89, of Orem, passed away June 5, 2021. She was born November 15, 1931, in Preston Idaho to Vernon Sharp and Mildred Gregory. She married Howard Pack Galloway June 12, 1953. Howard passed away June 26, 1955. She married DeRae Broderick January 31, 1958. He preceded her in death June 4, 2019.

Pauline was raised with 6 siblings in Fairview, Idaho. She spent a lot of time in her younger years working on the farm, mostly thinning, weeding and harvesting beets. She attended Fairview school where she was involved in sports and lots of different activities. She also attended Preston High where she enjoyed participating in operettas. She was in the Pep club, music club, art club, commercial club opera and traveling choir. She graduated in June 1950. She met Howard Galloway at a dance in 1950 and later married and sealed in 1953 in the Logan Temple. They had a daughter in April of 1954. About 2 months later they were driving a truck for her brother. On their way home in the mountains east of Laramie, Wyoming, the brakes failed. They crashed into the side of the mountain, resulting in the death of Howard. Pauline was critically injured. She spent many weeks in the hospital and finally returned to live with her parents in Fairview. During this time, she had her first hip replacement. After a couple of years her twin brother, Paul came to get her so she could live with him and his wife, Norma, in Provo. She found a small apartment, after a time, and lived there with her daughter. During that time, she met DeRae Broderick and they were married January 1958 and made their home in Orem. They had 3 sons during the years that followed while Ray worked at his building business. In 1964 they were called to serve a building mission in Leeds, England and left a new home, halfway built, and moved to England in Oct. 1964. They made many good friends and a lifetime of wonderful memories. While serving in England they received a letter from then Prophet, David O McKay, authorizing them to be sealed. This sealing took place in the London Temple. They returned home in Oct. 1966, finished the new home and moved in 5 days before Christmas. They had another son and a daughter. Pauline has been very involved in church and many activities, serving in many capacities including Young Women, Primary, Relief Society and Sunday School. While in England she wrote, produced and directed an entire Road Show. She was also heavily involved with the Festival of Trees for a number of years. They loved to travel and had opportunities to visit many different countries and areas in the U.S. She has overcome a lot of adversity in her life and endured a lot of pain, including the loss of DeRae on June 4, 2019. She was a wonderful friend, wife, daughter, sister and mother. She made sure to stay in touch with everyone and planned reunions, parties, vacations, holidays etc. The glue of the family. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her children: Cindy Henderson (Kent), Gary Broderick (Becky), Chad Broderick (Tanya), Phil Broderick (Joni), Kevin Broderick (Sherie) and Ann Henry. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren, her twin brother, Paul and sister Beverly.
