Paul Schubert

Paul E. Schubert, age 60, passed away on June 14th 2019 at his happy place; his home. There he created fond memories, and a world with hope that it would always be a source of joy and inspiration to all who visited.

Some of his favorite activities involved the water. Whether it was swimming, boating, diving, scuba diving, or snorkeling. He made his first splash in this world when he was born on January 7th 1959 in Denver Colorado to Dorothy and Harry Schubert.

He was the 4th of 5 children. His siblings are Harry, Sunny, Linda and Donna.

When he was old enough he served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Toronto Canada mission. Through out his life he served faithfully in many callings including Young mens, Bishoprics, and as a Teacher.

He made another splash when his love of the water helped to win him a state championship in spring board diving. This helped him to gain a scholarship to the University of Washington as a member of the diving team.

While at UW he felt the need to go to Arizona. Here he was swept away by the beauty, and grace of his wonderful wife Dorothy. He was able to catch her eye with his strong tall physique and witty personality. Not to long after they met he was able to convince her and her mother that he was Dorothy's knight in shining armor. He married his sweetheart on August 8th 1981 in the Mesa temple for time and all eternity.

He then dragged his wife kicking and screaming to Utah to attend BYU where he finished a Bachelors degree in recreational therapy. While he was finishing school he was ready to make his next big splash. So he had a conversation with his wife about kids. They discussed it and 9 months later had the first of 6 children.

His family became his world. He was the carpenter, the artist, the magician, the protector, and provider for his family. His amazing talents created a magical world for his family whether it was through painting, story telling, or showing them how to find the magic in life. His home was truly his happiest place on earth, and to his family he showed that any day spent with them was his favorite day.

His career lead him to do many things but of everything he loved meeting and working with people. His career of helping disabled adults gave him joy and happiness.

He was often working 2 jobs but always seemed to have the time for his family. He started his own landscaping business mowing lawns, planting flowers, and doing sprinklers. He loved plants and flowers. His green thumb eventually grew an Avocado tree named George. Feeling that owning one business wasn't enough he eventually formed another. Having multiple jobs never led him far from his happy place though. He always worked for his family and took the time to do anything for them that they needed from homework, to a kick in the right direction, to driving down to Arizona so his Wife wouldn't miss her mother, and taking his family to Disneyland.

The lessons he taught and memories we shared will always be with us. With a spoon full of sugar he helped those lessons to be a little easier to swallow. We may not have even known he was teaching us lessons but we were just having fun. He showed us how to be kind, how to be friendly, how to imagine, how to work, how to love, how to never lose faith or hope, and to wish upon a star.

His wife Dorothy Schubert, his children Annalisa and her husband Russ, Joseph and his wife Octavia, Christopher and his wife Stephanie, Kimberlee, Stephen and his wife Missy, Naomi and 10 grand children would like to invite you to celebrate the good times we had with him. To cherish those happy moments we shared and let them become a happy thought to lift you up when you are down. He wanted us to laugh not cry, and to smile until the world wonders why. It's easy to be happy. All it takes is faith, trust, a happy thought and some pixie dust.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1485 North 800 West, Orem.  Viewings will be held Friday, June 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30, prior to the services.  Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.  Condolences may be expressed to the family on this page
