Norma “Yvonne” Murray Glenn, 83, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, in Riverton, Utah, where she had been living with her daughter.
Yvonne was born in Clifton, Idaho, to Owen Darly Murray and Norma Peterson Monson Murray. She grew up in southeastern Idaho, including Clifton, Nampa, and Meridian, where she developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong love of the gospel.
She married her eternal companion, Lowell Marshall Glenn, on November 4, 1964, in the Logan, Utah, Temple. Their marriage spanned 59 devoted years, filled with love, partnership, and mutual care, especially in the final decade of her life, when Lowell faithfully served as her caregiver.
Yvonne attended Brigham Young University, where she earned a degree in Recreation Management. While at BYU, she pursued her passion for dance as a member of the folk-dance program. In a memorable chapter of her life, she chose to travel to Europe with the dance group during her final year—temporarily leaving behind the man who would later become her husband. This experience was special and unique for Yvonne as it was the first overseas tour for the BYU folk dancers; she was one of the 24 people to represent BYU and the United States, and with 53 performances lasting over 44 days and visiting Denmark, Germany, France, Austria, and Italy.
Above all, Yvonne was a devoted mother to her five children, a role she embraced with deep commitment and purpose. She believed strongly in nurturing creativity and self-expression, encouraging her daughters in dance and ensuring her son took piano lessons. She instilled in her children a love for the arts, learning, and personal growth.
Yvonne had a bold and creative spirit. She loved crafting, dancing, and trying new things. Throughout her life, she found joy in reading, sewing, quilting, and cross-stitching. Yvonne took her sewing skills to create multiple costumes for her daughter’s dance and drill teams. In later years, she became especially passionate about quilting—so much so that her family fondly joked she had more fabric and projects than she could ever complete.
Much of her early adult life was devoted to raising her family full-time, but she later returned to the workforce, including time spent at a photography studio. This work allowed her to connect with others and capture cherished memories of her children, extended family, and herself.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Yvonne held a strong testimony of Jesus Christ throughout her life. She served faithfully in many callings over 25 years in one ward, including as Relief Society president. She also shared her enthusiasm for health and fitness by organizing and teaching aerobics classes during their peak popularity.
Yvonne took pride in presenting herself well and believed in always looking her best—for herself and for her husband. Even during the last ten years of her life, as she faced significant pain and physical challenges, she remained determined to care for her family and maintain her sense of dignity and style.
She is survived by her children: Garth Glenn (Julie Glenn); Lynette Moore (Tim Moore); Arianne Davis (Randy Davis); Heather Taylor (Tom Taylor); and Steacey Johnson (Scott Johnson); as well as 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Kathy Soresen (Roger Soresen), Meldoee Steiner (George Steiner), Vicki Murray, and Carol Murray.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen Darley Murray and Norma Peterson Monson Murray, and her brothers Kless Owen Murray, Quinn Murray, Scott Murray, and Phillip Murray.
