Myrtle Aleene Forbush Hansen of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 23, 2026, in the home of her eldest daughter in Foley, Alabama, surrounded by loved ones on both sides of the veil. She was 86.
She was born in Richfield, Utah, on September 12, 1939, the seventh child of nine of Neldon Vance and Leah Miller Forbush. She graduated from South Sevier High School in Monroe, Utah, after which she attended Hollywood Beauty College in Provo, Utah. She graduated a year later and went to work for one of her instructors. While working at her instructor's shop, she met and married her husband, Douglas Lee Hansen, in the Manti LDS Temple. They lived in Provo for a couple of years, then moved to Magna, Utah, where they purchased a home and began raising their four wonderful daughters. They later moved to Orem, Utah and remained in that beautiful valley where they finished raising their girls and serving those around them.
Aleene was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from a very young age and served in many positions — Primary teacher for many years, Sunday School secretary, Stake Primary, Stake Relief Society, Cub Scouts, and Ward Relief Society Activity Day Leader. She and Doug loved serving three missions: one as proselyting missionaries in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the other two were in the mission offices in both the San Jose and Arcadia, California missions. They were wonderful experiences of full-time service and a highlight in their lives.
Aleene loved the Lord with all her heart and felt close to God. She delighted in the beautiful things He created. She loved working in her yard, reading, genealogy, crocheting, and quilting quilts for her grandchildren. She was intentional in connecting her family together by creating many memorable, fun family activities and traditions. She was our biggest fan and loudest cheerleader. When Aleene showed up, she showed up to serve.
Fittingly, she was called home to heaven on a morning she would otherwise have spent preparing and delivering flower arrangements to honor and show love for those who have passed before.
Aleene was preceded in death by both her parents, Neldon Forbush and Leah Miller and six siblings, including Fairlyn Edwards, Val Forbush, Gene Forbush, Sanford Forbush, Ronald Forbush and Anna Mae Forsyth.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Hansen; her four daughters, Terri Hansen Ramirez, Donna Anderson (Ken), Valerie Hansen, and Jeanette Workman (Howard); eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and her two sisters, Gayle Pollock (Hank) and Nedra Jensen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:30 am at the LDS Chapel located at 762 East 1200 North, Orem, with a viewing held that morning from 10-11:00 am at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East, Orem, UT.
***In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Aleene's honor to A Gift of Time ( www.agiftoftimegeorgetown.org ) to donate or P.O. Box 427 Georgetown, TX 78627, a nonprofit her daughter Jeanette serves with in supporting families living with dementia.
