Michael Ned Morgan

Michael Ned Morgan, age 75 of Orem, Utah, passed away on June 19th at the SLC Veterans Hospital. 

Michael was born January 12, 1949, to Ned Maurice Morgan and Zelda Mary Wright Morgan in Provo, Utah. Michael married Sherena Graff October 16, 1975, in the Provo Temple.

Michael was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam as a “foot soldier” from 1969 to 1970. He was wounded in the leg and exposed to Agent Orange. He was awarded a Purple Heart among other awards. When he came home, he started working in the home building business until 1980, then he worked custodial at Orem High School for 30 years before retiring.

Michael and Sherena made their home in South Orem for 49 years where they raised their three sons. The last 2-1/2 years Michael lived at Christoferson Veterans home in Salt Lake City in the memory care unit. He enjoyed his time there.

Michael loved to work with his hands, building several sheds in the yard, and raising a garden and flowers. Michael did not like to be a big deal. He helped the neighbors when they needed it but did not like the spotlight He made roadrunner weather vanes and gave them to everyone. Michael collected many M&M candy figures and loved to put stamps in stamp books. He had many problems with his NF1 and PTSD but worked through them.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife Sherena; his three sons, Matthew (Merriam), Mark (Melanie), and Scott; and 7 grandchildren, Jacob, JayDen, Alyssa, Nick, Ben, Marie, and Ember; sisters, Pat Robertsen and Sherry DeGraw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Mary Morgan; his siblings, Judy Parson, Charles Morgan, and Barbara Stubbs.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary at 495 South State Street in Orem. This will be followed by a graveside service at the Orem Cemetery with Military Rites.
