Mary Herzig

October 4, 1941 — March 22, 2018

Mary Lynn Herzig, 76, passed away Thursday March 22, 2018, at her home in Orem, Utah. She slipped away peacefully surrounded by her children.  She was born in Heber City, Utah, on October 4, 1941, to Earl and Louise Fifield. She married Ronald Phillip Herzig on October 9, 2010, he preceded her in death on April 9, 2017.

Mary's greatest joy and accomplishment is and always will be her children: Lori, Steven, Ronald, Dennis, Carrie, Susan, and Julie and their children. She served them wholeheartedly and happily at every opportunity.

She was very proud of her accomplishment to finish school while a single mother to become a registered nurse to improve the circumstances for her and her children.

She was passionate about caring for others and was grateful both professionally and personally for the opportunities she had to do so.

Mary was an expert seamstress and dressmaker. She generously devoted her time and this valuable talent to her daughter's, granddaughter's, her friends, neighbors, and anyone in need to create lovely wedding dresses, quilts, baby blankets, and gifts of all kinds. Mary also loved to ski, fish, and camp.

She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a visiting teacher. She led the Humanitarian Committee quilting baby quilts for the ward. Her most recent calling was to lead the church program in the Beehive Home for the elderly.

Mary is survived by her seven children: Lori, Steven, Ronald, Dennis, Carrie, Susan, and Julie; 20 grand children and 17 great-grand children; her three sisters Kaye, Sue Ann, and Nora; and her two brothers John and Bill. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, husband, her sisters Lola and Joyce, brothers Delaun and Richard, and her grandson Justin.

Funeral services will be held Friday March 30, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Orem 2nd LDS Ward Building located at 80 South 280 East, Orem, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held Thursday March 29, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary located at 495 South State Street, Orem, and on Friday just prior to the service at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The burial will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, Utah.
