Listen to Obituary

Marlyn Stout Pollard passed away peacefully in Carmel, Indiana, on December 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of music, faith, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.

Born in Cedar City, Utah, to Cyril Stout and Donna Rhuperta Smith Stout, Marlyn’s early years were spent in Midvale, Utah, where she formed lifelong friendships and discovered her extraordinary musical gifts. At just eight years old, she began piano lessons, and by eleven, she was playing the organ with such skill that by twelve, her teachers had nothing more to teach her. Her talent was so profound that she received an offer to attend the prestigious Juilliard School of Music.

A proud graduate of Jordan High School in May 1956, Marlyn dedicated her life to service through music. Her piano and organ playing enriched countless church meetings, choirs, road shows, school programs, and community events. She served faithfully in Primary, Mutual, and Relief Society, always bringing warmth and grace to every gathering.

Marlyn’s sense of humor was legendary, and her “Tall Stories” made her a beloved public speaker across Utah and California. Her ability to connect with audiences through wit and wisdom was a gift she shared generously.

On June 21, 1956, Marlyn married her high school sweetheart, Pearl Icean Pollard Jr., a union later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on February 21, 1964. Their love story was the foundation of a vibrant family life that brought Marlyn immeasurable joy. She cherished her role as wife and mother above all, and her gratitude for those who loved and cared for her was boundless.

Throughout her life, Marlyn lived in Utah, California, Colorado, Washington, and Indiana, touching hearts wherever she went.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pearl I. Pollard Jr., who passed away on October 28, 1991.

She is survived by their 6 children, many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Marlyn’s life was a symphony of faith, laughter, and love. Her music, stories, and spirit will echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
