Marlene Layton Young, 86, passed away peacefully August 18, 2023, in Orem, Utah.  She was born on September 20, 1936, in Ogden, Utah, to Sherman D. Layton and Helen Gailey Layton.  She married Jay A. Young on June 26, 1954, in Layton, Utah and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on January 8, 1964. 

Marlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She enjoyed being outdoors camping, golfing, and traveling.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in Sacramento, CA.

Marlene is survived by three children: Sherrie (Craig) Christensen, Randy (Julie), and Craig (Pam); 11 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. Graveside services will immediately follow at 1:30 pm in the Orem City Cemetery.
