Marian "Micki" Gardner

July 3, 1946 — July 22, 2019

Long time Provo resident, Marian “Micki” Edith White Gardner, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2019.

Micki was born in Provo, Utah on July 3, 1946, to Lowell and Leona White. She was the youngest of four children. She married Larry Gardner in the Manti Temple on August 14th, 1970.

Micki was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings including primary president, cub scout leader, visiting teacher, and young women’s leader. She loved reading the scriptures, spending time every day reading from the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from BYU, graduating in 1969. She later worked at Utah State Family Services for 25 years. While attending college her summers were spent working in Jackson Hole. She loved the Jackson Hole area, especially hiking and exploring in the Tetons.

Micki loved to play all types of games with family and friends. In particular nertz and rook. Once or twice the rook tournaments may have gotten a little out of hand and had to be ended early. She remained a gracious game player, whether winning or losing.

Micki lived with the debilitating effects of multiple sclerosis for the past 39 years. In this affliction she was unfailingly positive and optimistic. Even with MS she loved to be outside and work in the yard. She spent hours planting flowers and weeding. She really enjoyed using a riding lawn mower to take care of the lawn. So much so that typically her children were forbidden from mowing the lawn; unless a snake was spotted.

One of her joys was taking her 1968 convertible Firebird for drives both long and short with whoever would go. Her favorite place to vacation was Lake Powell. She loved to play games and float in the cool, clear water. Micki loved it when people came to visit or when she was able to spend time visiting with her sisters and family. She enjoyed many great tv shows like The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune.

Micki is survived by her husband of 49 years Larry Gardner, children Reggie (Holliann) Gardner, and Gina (Jared) Theler, 8 grandchildren, siblings Weston (Marilynn) White, Judy (JR) Adams, Slyvia (Fred) Luchenbill, and many neices, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lowell White & Leona Booth White and granddaughter Gabriella Theler.
