Margie Rose

May 13, 1926 — June 12, 2014

Margie June Quarles Shallenberger Rose, (88) passed peacefully from this world at 12:10 pm in her home on Wednesday, June 11th, surrounded by her loving children in Orem, Utah. The oldest of nine children, she was born in Wakita, Oklahoma on May 13, 1926, to John Robert & Ethel Margaret Quarles. Margie had a strong passion for three things in this world - Family, Faith and Country. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and spent many of her years supporting neighbors and friends. Most who have shared Margie's company seem quite taken by her unyielding sense of optimism with the world and things around her. She was a "half-glass-full" kind of gal. She loved gardening (especially roses), painting, dancing, singing, poetry, storytelling and music. She was known for her laughter, charity and kindness, and faithful obedient nature. Margie was also a source of wisdom and comfort to all who knew her. Margie was raised in Las Animas, CO, and raised her family in Vallejo and Antioch, California. She spent the last 20 years of her life in Orem, UT in her beloved 100 year old home. She married Harvey Rhea Shallenberger on September 30, 1944, and was later sealed with him for all time and eternity. She also married Glen Rose. Margie is survived by her 6 siblings: Betty Wilbur (Las Animas, CO), Mary Treat (Picayune, MS), Lila Wayt (Lehi, UT), Ralph (Beverly) Quarles (Roy, UT), Willie (Shirley) Quarles (Las Animas, CO), and Sonja (Joseph) Termini (Spokane, WA). Her 6 children: Sharon (Rob) Cocanour (Sparks, NV), Robert Shallenberger (Napa, CA), Steven (Roxanne) Shallenberger (Orem, UT), Sandra (Tommy) Stewart (Provo, UT), Laurie Shallenberger (Provo, UT), and Donald (Desiree) Shallenberger (Elk Ridge, UT). Of this group, Margie had 28 grandchildren, 30.5 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. The viewing will be held on Monday, June 16th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S State St, Orem, UT 84058. The Funeral service will be held June 17th, in the Orem 8th Ward Chapel with the viewing from 9:45 - 10:45 AM, and the funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Church building is located at 800 E 1000 S Orem, UT 84097.
