Loy Tingey Ballantyne, age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in Denver, Colorado. She was born September 23, 1927, at Dee Memorial Hospital in Ogden, Utah to Leon Harold Tingey and Mary Richards Tingey. She graduated in 1945 from Weber High School. On September 1, 1948, she married David Robinson Ballantyne in the Salt Lake City Temple.
As a young woman, she worked at the Ogden Depot, and later worked for the Ogden City Health Department and in the admissions department at Brigham Young University, where she was awarded the Presidential Award for her outstanding service. She devoted her life to her family and her church. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in numerous callings. She served as the Junior Sunday School Coordinator in many wards and was loved by hundreds of children for her sweet spirit in leading and teaching them. Loy taught her family and those around her how to love and serve with simple, unwavering faith—her greatest legacy to them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson, Matthew Achziger, and her great-granddaughter, Zoey Achziger. She is survived by her three children (and spouses), Scott David Ballantyne and Rebekah Johnson (New York), Brett Alan Ballantyne and Paulette Allred (Colorado), and Susan Achziger (Colorado); her grandchildren, Jordan Ballantyne and wife Michelle, Ryan Ballantyne and wife Heather, Heather Ballantyne, Lindsay Ballantyne, Stephen Achziger, Laura (Achziger) Barnett and husband Benjamin Barnett, and Layla Achziger. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Her spirit lives on in each of us who knew and loved her. She will never be forgotten.
