Lowell Marshall Glenn

March 11, 1938 — April 18, 2024

Orem

Lowell Marshall Glenn, who resided in Orem passed away at the age of eighty-six on April 18th, 2024. He was born on March 11th, 1938, in Delta, Colorado to Marshall Weston Glenn and Reba Brown Mc Bride. He married Norma Yvonne Murray on November 4th, 1964, in the Logan temple.

Lowell, more than anything else, was committed to his family and showed unconditional love to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. This love was extended to the spouses and significant others of the family. Lowell found his eternal companion while attending Brigham Young University (BYU) and loved, served, and adored her for over 59 years on this earth. Lowell was an avid learner and wonderful teacher. He always had a book close by, a camera to take pictures, and music, (usually classical) close at hand.  Lowell had a curious nature and achieved intellectual pursuits that included formal education. He graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s and master’s degree before moving to Washington D.C. to pursue a doctorate in economics from George Washington University. Lowell was always an industrious worker and his professional life had two distinct periods. His most successful period was his work at Utah Valley University. At the age when most people would retire Lowell worked full-time from 1999 to 2021 and served as the chair of the economics department for the Woodbury School of Business for over a decade. While serving at the school he was instrumental in developing online learning and creating the personal finance degree for the school. Lowell was proud of his work at the University and at the age of eighty-three retired. During this same time, Lowell taught online courses for Athabasca University in Canada. Lowell, while not working, loved to explore the world around him and would always find the most circuitous route to get to any destination because the journey was part of the fun. He loved to watch BYU sports, especially men’s football and basketball games with his wife. Lowell later in life wrote extensively in journals and took many pictures of nature, wildlife, and his family. Lowell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held a testimony of Jesus Christ all his life.

Lowell is survived by his wife Yvonne Glenn, son Garth Glenn (Julie Glenn), Daughters, Lynette Moore (Tim Moore), Arianne Davis (Randy Davis), Heather Taylor (Tom Taylor), Steacey Johnson (Scott Johnson), eighteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. His brothers Phil Glenn (Cheryl Glenn), and Joseph Glenn (Joyce Glenn). He is proceeded in death by his father Marshall Weston Glenn, his mother Reba Brown McBride, and his sister Kathrine Faden (Les Faden)
