Lowell Dana (LD) Glady, recently of Orem, Utah passed into the next life on March 28, 2024, at the age of 89. LD was born May 24, 1934, in Bradford, Pennsylvania to Luella Katherine Rose Glady and Oliver Lyman Glady.
LD spent his youth exploring the woods of Pennsylvania. As a young adult, he joined the Merchant Marines, then the Navy during the Korean conflict. After his service to his country, he became a high-voltage cable splicer. He was respected in his field and did jobs such as installing the high-voltage electrical cable across the Mojave Desert.
LD was a wanderer at heart moving every few years. After his retirement, he continued to make his home in California, then moved to Arizona, Texas and finally Utah. He loved the ocean. As a child his nickname was Sailor. He brought that name to fruition during his time in the service and after while living in San Diego, where he lived close to the ocean and owned various sailboats and catamarans. True to his wandering heart, he also loved the desert. He took up painting after retirement where desert scenes and native American culture was his main inspiration. He was a true handyman always fixing and improving every place he lived from physical structures to landscape.
LD is survived by his three children: Sheryl (George) Serrano, Sheldon (Joyce) Glady, Shannon (Lisa) Glady and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Duane Frederick Glady and his sister Lois Ann Nye.
LD will be cremated and returned to the ocean he loved. Please remember him privately with your family.
