Larry Martin Sheriff, age 87, of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Orem.
Larry was born on September 4, 1938, in Lynndyl, Utah, to Martin Sheriff and Effie Roper Sheriff. He spent his early years in Lynndyl until the age of 10, when his family moved to Provo, Utah. He graduated from Orem High School in 1957.
While in high school, Larry met the love of his life, Sally Clements. The two were married on May 16, 1958. They made their home in Provo until 1969, when they moved to Orem. Together, they raised one daughter and three sons and were blessed with 13 grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren. Larry and Sally shared 63 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in September 2021.
Larry had a long and successful career in the retail dairy industry. After retiring, he worked as a bank courier for the Bank of American Fork. He was passionate about fast-pitch softball and was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. He enjoyed playing softball with his sons and many grandsons and participated in the Huntsman Senior Games for over 25 years.
Larry loved celebrating Halloween and was well known for dressing up. One of his favorite costumes was Colonel Sanders, which even won him a Colonel Sanders contest. He also found great joy in working in his yard, which was selected for a garden tour. Larry had a love for collecting and was known for his unique phrases and sayings, outhouses, and especially loved all of his dogs.
Larry is survived by his four children: Susan Barbakos (Brent), Greg Sheriff (Erika), Chris Sheriff (Kristin), and Kelly Sheriff (Leslie); 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Diane Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sally Sheriff; a grandson, Colby Sheriff; his parents, Martin Sheriff and Effie Roper Sheriff; one brother, Cleon Sheriff; and two sisters, Nadine Notton and Mignon Griffiths.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Jim Thomas family for their love and support of our mom and dad over the years, as well as to Covington Senior Care Center and Belle Vie Hospice, especially Cassie and Emery, for their compassionate care and support.
