LaRae Fry Soulier Hayward passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 90.
She was born on March 14, 1935, in Provo, Utah, at Crane Maternity Hospital to Charles Lerwill Fry and Elizabeth Westoby Fry. LaRae was the youngest of twelve children.
She graduated from Springville High School in 1953 and married Bert S. Soulier on March 19, 1953. Bert passed away in November 1965 in Lander, Wyoming. After his passing, LaRae resided in Orem with their four daughters.
LaRae later married Bill Hayward on January 11, 1969. They had two children together and were married for 50 years until Bill’s passing in January 2019.
LaRae worked as a bakery decorator at Allen’s Super Save Store for five years and later at UVRMC (Provo Hospital) as a housekeeper for 24 years. She retired in 2006.
She loved collecting poems and recipes, talking on the phone, spending time with her family, and keeping in touch with old friends and classmates. She was a member of the LDS church.
LaRae is survived by her children: Valerie S. Fenton, Melanie S. Holt (Steve), Sharee S. Scott (Brad), Gena H. Mullins (Scott), and Mike Hayward (Wendy); her sister-in-law, Royanne (Ladelle) Baum; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and six brothers; her daughter Pat; two sons-in-law; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
LaRae wished to thank all of her wonderful nieces and nephews for their love, gifts, and kindness through the years. She will also never forget her dear friends Vickie Lee, who was there for her every day, Donna Allred, and Nadine Thalman.
LaRae will be laid to rest at Provo City Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services beginning at 11:30 a.m at Wheeler-Sundberg Funeral Home, 495 South State Street, Orem.
