Lapriel Louder

LaPriel Kocherhans Louder (an amazing woman) passed away Wednesday morning February 6, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Orem, Utah four days after celebrating her 100th Birthday with over 300 family and friends.

She was born February 2, 1919 in Lovell, Big Horn, Wyoming the 5th child of William Gideon and Viola Perry Kocherhans. She moved to Utah with her family when she was 5, living first in Provo and then her father built them a home on the Provo Bench (Orem).

She attended Sharon Elementary and graduated from Lincoln High School. She married Lloyd J Louder on June 7, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple. LaPriel served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her entire life. She loved her many callings including Young Women President and Road Shows, Relief Society President, and her favorite calling “Grandma Friend” in the Primary. She served with Lloyd on a mission to the North Carolina, Raleigh Mission.

She was an accomplished seamstress, cook, gardener winning the Orem Beautification Award. On her 90th birthday trip to California she won the showcase showdown on the “Price is Right” which included a trip to Jamaica. She was a great fisherman and had a boat and cabin at Strawberry. She loved the yearly fishing trips to Fish Lake. She worked in her younger years picking fruit in the orchards, at Lewis Ladies and later at J.C. Penney’s in the Shoe department for 38 years. She served as President of the PTA and was always interested in her children's education. Her goal was to reach 100 and she did. With no other goals to accomplish, she was ready to go when her eternal companion came to take her home.

She is survived by her 4 daughters, Sherry (Sherril Liston), Deon (Paul Coon). Sandra (Jerry Lowe deceased), Connie (Richard Erickson deceased). 19 Grand Children, 75 Great Grand Children, and 12 Great Great Grand Children. One brother, Chester P. Kocherhans, brother and sister-in-law’s Arden and Barbara Louder, Beverly Louder, and Katheryn Kocherhans.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 7 brothers and sisters, Olga, William Glen, LaVor P., Ivan P., Hilda Orton, Marjorie and Maxine Kocherhans. One great granddaughter Hanna Jane Lowe.

Please join us for a celebration of LaPriel's life to be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday February 19, 2019, at the LDS Chapel located at 400 North 400 East Orem, UT. A viewing will be held on Monday Evening February 18, from 6-8 p.m. At the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, Utah, and at the church on Tuesday February 19, from 9:30 -10:45 a.m.  Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
